Church Bells

St James has eight bells – six dating from 1787, when five old bells were recast into six (although the tenor bell which cracked was recast again in 1896), and two from 1986.

The bells are regularly rung before Sunday services and, on request (to the Vicar), at weddings by the bell ringing team.

Bell ringing practice is on Thursday evenings at 7.30 pm in the Bell Tower and new recruits to the bell ringing team are most welcome (contact the Tower Captain, Brian Toyn on 01234 211716).

Bell ringers from other churches are welcome to visit Biddenham to ring the St James bells (contact the Tower Captain).
