Work days
Work days at the pond are normally held in late spring/early summer and in the autumn.
Friends and other helpers worked hard at the site on our two work days in 2007, in March and November. Substantial progress was made with root clearance in the rough area of ground near the pond, and we trimmed and generally tidied to prepare the site for the winter
The next work day is on Saturday, 15 March 2008 at 10.00 amVolunteers are always very welcome. Contact any committee member for further details.
Winter Evening
This year's party was held on Saturday, 2 February in the village hall. Tribute was paid to Dorothy Richards, who died in October 2007, and who had inspired and led the revival of the village pond. After an enjoyable film, competition and buffet supper, the AGM was convened and concluded with the re-election of the management committee for a further year.
Benches
In the summer, we installed a new bench by the pond, which was kindly funded by the Biddenham Show committee. This replaced one of the two benches which had both reached the end of their safe lives; and we are grateful to Daphne Lawlor, who had previously donated one of those benches in memory of her husband, Fintan, for providing a second replacement bench.
Easter Fun
At the well attended Easter egg hunt on Easter Saturday 2007, the ‘hunters’ had to find the nine letters of the alphabet that were hidden round the pond and then rearrange them into the name ('dragonfly') of something associated with the pond. We are very sorry that the hunt planned for Easter Saturday 2008 has had to be cancelled
